Phosphorite Mining in China

China is rich in c. 26 provinces (areas) produce phosphorite. The proved reserves mineral fields’ amount is 412 with total reserves 15.2 billion tons and rank second in the world.

As the distribution, Hubei and Yunnan is richer in phosphorite and occupied 22% and 21%. Guizhou and Hunan take second place. The reserves of four provinces above occupied 71% of whole country reserves. Important mineral deposits are Yunnan Kunyang phosphorite, Gui Zhou Kaiyang Phosphorite, Hubei Wangji phosphorite, Hunan Liuyang phosphorite, Sichua Jinhe phosphorite, Jiangsu Jingping phosphorite,etc. The major phosphorite deposit types is sedimentation phosphorite rock with occupied reserves 80%; the major is apatite deposit and the sedimentation metamorphism deposit take second place; guano phosphorite’s proved reserves is very rare.

The main phosphorite.mineragenetic epoch is Sinian period and Lower Cambrian, phosphorite can be produced in per-sinian and Paleozoic Era.
