Graphite Mining in China

China is very rich in graphite. 20 provinces (areas) have graphite production. The proved reserves mineral field amount is 91 and total reserves are 0.173 billion tons which ranks first in the world.

As for area distribution, Hei Longjiang is most rich in graphite with reserves 64.1% occupied in whole country. Sichuan and Shandong are also rich in graphite. The graphite mine types have regional metamorphism (Hei Longjiang Liumao, Nei Menggu Huang Tuyao, Shandong Nanshu, Sichuan Pan Zhihua Zhabi graphite mine, etc), contact metamorphism (such as Hunan Lutang, Guangdong Lianping graphite mine, etc) and magmatic hydrothermal (Xinjiang Qitai Sujiquan mine,etc).

The most important one is regional metamorphism which not only has big scale and reserves but also the quality is good. The graphite mineragenetic epoch is Archean Era, Proterozoic Eon, Paleozoic Era and Mesozoic Era. The graphite in Archean Era is most important.
