China is very rich in sulfide ore resource. The main mineral resource is troilite, next is associated troilite and sulphurite. The sulphurite total reserves are 1.493 billion which ranks second in the world.
There are quite few rich ore with sulphurite containing of more than 35% and only occupied 3.6%. The sulfide ore has wide distribution except in Shanghai and Hongkong.
The proved reserves mineral fields’ amount is 760. Sichuan is most rich in pyrites. Jiangxi (Dexin copper ore and Yongxin copper ore) ranks first in associated sulfide reserves. The sulphurite is mainly produced in Shandong (Taian area). Guangdong Yunfu pyrites, Nei Menggu Tanyaokou, Anhui Xinqiao, Shanxi Yangquan, Gansu Silver factory, etc are the important pyrites mineral fields. The mineral deposit type has sedimentation, sedimentation metamorphism, volcanics, skarn and hydrothermal alteration.
The most important ones are sedimentation (41% of whole country reserves) and sedimentation metamorphism (19% of whole country reserves). The main sulfide ore mineragenetic epoch is Paleozoic Era, next is Pre-Cambrian period and Mesozoic Era, also in Cainozoic Era the huge natural sulfide ore deposits were formed.
